Golarion: a place where the triumphs of heroes and the workings of villains are recorded in a constantly evolving codex of tales spanning centuries. For much of written history, world events followed charted routes. Oracles and seers mapped out the future in the stars above, and their prophecies always gave a reliable view of the ages to come.

Until a god died a century ago. No one saw that coming, and now, the old prophecies are failing. Oracles go mad and seers desperately try to account for the loss of the future. While some cry out that the world is at an end, they’ve been doing so for 100 years now. And the world’s still here. It’s just unclear where things are going. The future of Golarion is open, ready to receive the triumphs and failures of a new generation of heroes.

Because, as we all know, PCs have a knack for doing the unexpected. How could any oracle or sage predict what they’ll get up to next?

Chapter 1: Burnt Offerings

Setting:

Golarion. Anyone who's interested, I have a brief pdf with all common knowledge information about Golarion, Varisia, and Sandpoint, the small town where the first adventure occurs. The attachment includes information specific to 4E and is very technical. You really need the other document to make sense of it, but it was just barely too big for an attachment.

Level:

1 - 24

Races:

All PHB 1, plus gnome and half-orc. Tiefling and dragonborn are not native to Varisia, but also not entirely unknown...please work with me to explain why they are here!

Classes:

Any and all.

Please note in the Player's Guide (sent via email) that there is a whole new pantheon here in Varisia. I like it, and want to keep it, but I understand that can cause some difficulties for anyone planning a divine character. Use the domains given in the table to decide which 4E Channel Divinity powers are appropriate, and run your thoughts by me sometime! It should be very easy to work around.

Alignments:

No evil characters are allowed! No exceptions!

Spaces Available:

I will only be accepting five characters. Others are welcome to come along and enjoy the story. I am thrilled with this adventure and this campaign world...there is so much depth of information!

I would really like to see characters that fit firmly in the world, and are involved in what happens here. As you start at first level in Sandpoint, please consider making your characters native to the area or the region. I'll work with anyone on why your characters are in Sandpoint, and what further information you would have based on your background.

Characters will start the adventure in Sandpoint to attend a festival marking the dedication of a new stone cathedral, with chapels dedicated to six different gods, to replace a wooden chapel that burned down tragically in some unpleasantness a few years back.

I would love to see that pdf of information. I still fully plan on playing Mialee, my Elf Warden. I just need to find a forest that's near a town (preferably one with a temple to a deity). I'll change her backstory as needed to fit with the region (unless you like the idea of her looking for her epic-level sister).

I may be changing my character. I've been running into a lot of snags with Kazuma combined with the fact that once PHB3 comes out - Kazuma could very well be massively overhauled and I don't want that to affect a storyline that Jenling would be working on up until then.

I'll keep you updated on what I decide to do. If I don't go with Kazuma - I'll probably still play a striker unless others want to change their roles.

Zach, FYI, the Monk "playtest" officially ends Tuesday, when DDI is debuting the class. Theoretically, everything in the Monk article on that day is FINAL and will be in PH3, including more PP, any errata, etc.

The problem isn't what is currently out - it's what ISN'T currently out. As of right now I have no viable paragon path and about half the powers I have to choose from have no use for Kazuma as a character.

Well, it's official - I'm NOT playing Kazuma. The most recent update for the Monk class DESTROYED it. It is now complete crap

I'm looking into an Assassin or an Avenger for now. I'll keep you updated.

It is time to consider the best time to meet, darlings. I would like to meet once in the first couple of weeks of the semester. Since Gersh is planning to hold Scales on the 8th, and as far as I know Neal was the only barrier to doing so on the 9th, what say you to stealing that first Saturday for ourselves? That will give us plenty of time to get a good start to the campaign.

I have my own map! And new dice to tortur-I mean play with you with!
