My goal with this section is not to point you in one direction but to give you information that your character would know going into things.

The Orbs of Kakari: There is a legend told around the land. It has been discussed over campfires and in grand banquet halls; in the slums of a city and in the majestic rooms of a wizards tower. From the forests of Eldamir to the mountains of Kanult. The legend goes that there once were a group of powerful wizards who created orbs that harnessed the primal energies of the world. these orbs could make a man live forever, and each one had different abilities. At first these magi ruled the lands with the orbs. But eventually a desire for power drove them to war. Great battles covered the land, and in the chaos the orbs disappeared. Many adventurers have searched for these orbs, but none has ever found them.

Elves and Dwarves: The elves of the Eldamir forest and the Dwarves of Kanult have enjoyed an uneasy peace for the past 30 years. The two races have always been at odds ever since the war of the Orbs when the elves stole the orb of creation from the dwarven master smithy hall in Hammer Ring keep. Sporatic wars have cropped up between the two races over everything from land to trade rights to a bad price on mithral. The main stabilizing feature comes from the human city of Bright Walls that established itself in between the two nations. Due to contracts between the humans and the other two races, trade agreements will be suspended should any hostilities break out. Since the humans have a large share of the global economy the two races try to keep the fighting to a minimum.

Gnomes: Gnomes are very rare in the realms. The Gnome kingdom was shaken by the large cataclysmic explosion that created the Aquatic expanse to the north. A small gnomish city on the shore of the Aquatic expanse (Gizmo) sells small trinkets, but most of the gnomish technology was lost with most of the civilization. Nothing is known about what may lie beyond the Aquatic expanse as no ship has ever made the crossing. Rumor has it that powerful constructs inhabit the expanse and destroy anything that ventures into their territorial waters. The gnome city enjoys a peaceful existance as there are no threats from the Aquatic expanse to trouble them, and most creatures stay far away from the fringes of the cataclysmic explosion.

The Bent Willow Circle and the Faldon Monastery: This small group of druids live on the outskirts of the Eldamir forest along lake Faldon. Despite the rich natural resources in the area the lake is avoided by almost all outsiders. The Elves have a trade agreement with the druids to provide both peoples with necessities, but druids are not allowed to wander into elven lands without a purpose. The only other group that has interactions with the circle is a monastery on the far side of the lake. the Faldon Monastery has trained its members in the arts of defense and spiritual purity since long before the druid circle was even thought of. The monks have an agreement with the druids, who provide them with naturally enchanted objects in return for protection. It is very common to see Faldon protectors around the circle enclave watchign guard at all hours of the day and night. Both groups try to keep out of world events are are content to live peacefully alongside their lake.

Order of Karathus: this order is dedicated to evil in all forms. They worship pure evil. The group attempted to take over the continent starting with the human city of Bright Walls. The human, elven, and dwarven civilizations banded together to defeat them; the only time in the continent's history that elves and dwarves fought on the same side. Most of the Order were hunted down shortly after they were defeated. Some small pockets remain, but the order doesn't have the numbers to mount any kind of an offensive anymore.
