I recently purchased the Eberron Campaign Guide and Player's Handbook and I'm really interested in this new world.
Name: Eberron Campaign
Rule sets: 4th Edition, Eberron, for others - ask.
Starting level: 11
Desired end level: Epic, up to 30 if possible. Storyline is modular enough that if we don't reach 30 it won't be the end of the world (ha... sorry that was lame).
Desired start date: Early September (so people can get into the swing of their fall semester), probably around Sept. 9th if possible.
Desired end: End of the semester or possibly continuing if it really becomes interesting.
Play dates: For now I want to play every Wednesday night, but if class schedules get too rough - every other Wednesday night. Ideally I would like to start at 6pm or 7pm and go no later than 10pm.
Game Focus: Primarily Role Play with a good deal of problem solving, intrigue, and some good old-fashioned battles.
Number of Players: 4-5
Character Restrictions: Any published hardcover book other than some of the specifics in Forgotten Realms (the two worlds don't collide well) although the races in Forgotten Realms are fine. You are allowed to go into 1 Background bonus. Also, instead of a background bonus - you can choose a Dragonmark without spending the required feat. If you choose not to, you can still choose to add a Dragonmark later on, but at that point you do need to spend a feat.
Attributes: Standard point-buy.
Equipment: One 13th level, One 12th level, and One 11th level item, and 5,000gp. Any other mundane equipment is fine also. Just don't go overboard.
Alignments: Must be non-evil. Anything beyond this - ask, I may allow it.
Premise: 2 years ago, the Last War ended by with a very uneasy truce between the Five Nations (Aundair, Thrane, Karrnath, Breland, and Cyre - now the Mournland). The sudden destruction of the entire country of Cyre on the Day of Mourning led to the signing of this Truce.
Very little has changed other than the lack of open warfare. Countries are still building armies and weapons of war, preparing for what seems to be the inevitable continuation of the Last War. Distrust, hatred, suspicion, and fear drive the leaders of all the countries.
This campaign will be held on the continent of Khorvaire. The primary regions of the continent being: Karrnath, Aundair, Thrane, Breland, Mournland, Zilargo (a Gnomish country), The Talenta Plains (open wilds mainly controlled by roaming Halflings), Valenar (Elf country), Mror Holds (Dwarves), The Lhazaar Principalities (large series of islands controlled by several princes), Eldeen Reaches (mostly forests controlled by primarily half-orc Druids), Droaam (controlled by three Hags), The Shadow Marches (an independent region with mostly Orcs and a few other races), and the Demon Wastes (not a nice place).
If there is a specific background idea you want for your character, I'm certain we can find something in Eberron that will fit.
For background information, I will ask for checks for each knowledge skill as if you had rolled a 10 for each, and I'll send you the full knowledge you know about the history of the world. If you want to work out a specific background that may give you more or less information, let me know. The more specific the characters, the more fun the game.
The start of the game:
Jaela Daran, the young Keeper of the Flame, the head of the Church of the Silver Flame, and the leader of the Country of Thrane, has been sending out quiet requests through Thrane and some of the neighboring kingdoms for adventurers. Very little information is given as to the nature of the request, but reward is promised for aid. It is also a curiosity that the most powerful person if all of Thrane would resort to secret correspondence and notes to request aid. These requests were sent through trusted religious channels, common adventurers hubs, and even black market information sources. The request was simple, but there is certainly to be more involved - Meet in the city Aruldusk, in the country of Thrane at the Light's Hope Inn.
OOC: Motivations -
Good aligned characters know that the Church of the Silver Flame is a religion that pushes morality over baser urges and attempts to do good in the world. Helping the leader of this group would no doubt have even greater effects for the good of the world.
Unaligned (neutral) characters are interested in the mention of a reward. Anything that needs to be passed along quietly by the ruler of a nation has to be something that's going to bring about a sizable reward upon completion. Also, if this involves saving a ruler from a very unpleasant situation - fame is a very likely product for those who save her.
